There are many types of engines available for an aircraft some of them depend on the size of the aircraft while others depend on its purpose. Some of the popular available options of the Engines are Turboprop,Turbofan, Turbo shaft and Turbojet. While everyone serves different purposes, but basically everyone has a common objective, to make the aircraft fly.

Today, lets discuss two of the most popular choices of Engines wiz, Turboprop and Turbofan. Both have the physical as well as Functional differences, Consider a Turboprop engine to be the one with Airbus A-400 M and Turbofan being on C-5 Galaxy.

Some differences between the two types of engines are:-

1. A turboprop can generate less amount of thrust than Turbofan, and due to this its slow compared to turbofan.

2. A turboprop is suitable for lower altitudes whereas a Turbofan is suitable for Moderate altitudes.

3. A turboprop has a gearbox system to move, whereas Turbofan uses compressor.

4. Thrust is less in case of Turboprop whereas its higher in Turbofan.
