Its being Coined as the Largest passenger airplane in the skies, it flies approximate 30 million passengers every year. It has the largest wing span on any commercial aircraft. And has the the maximum take off weight higher than any commercial aircraft. Its the Airbus A 380.
The idea behind the development of this aircraft is that airbus wanted to challenge Boeing on its Double Decker competition. When Boeing launched its 747 way back in 1969, it had created a name for itself as the Queen of the Skies. Boeing wanted to make an aircraft bigger then the 747 but due to technological and R&D constraints it failed to make that aircraft. So way back in 2007 its Rival Airbus launched the A-380 dubbed as the biggest Passenger Jet in the World.
The USP(Unique Selling Proposition) of the A- 380 was that the aisle run through entire length of the aircraft( and not half that was on 747) that meant More passengers and more profits for the companies.
Fast Forward to 2019(March) when Airbus announced that it will halt the production of A 380 due to its inability to find more cutomers so as to sustain the production. Then fast forward to 2019(September) when Emirates the biggest operator of A-380 starts retiring the A-380 for its spares.
Other Carriers have also announced that their A-380 will be in Skies for at least the year 2025.
As the Aviation Industry is started getting more Bigger there is still a bigger issue towards the environment. According to some agencies the Aviation Industry contributes almost 2% of the pollution. So by that thinking the companies have started reducing the fleet of A-380's as its not sustainable to the Environment.
Anyways The A-380 is a marvelous aircraft which reminds that Given the ability Humans can create anything they desire.
